The Lincoln St. Center features similar length and width dimensions as the previously used Ailee Arena, but players may have to adjust to the lower ceilings. The Lincoln St. Center is the first official FBA court with hardwood floors, an element league executives hope will aid in ball control and cut down on turnovers.

Game one featured two of the youngest teams in the league. Drew Division team The Original Peaches played host to the Alex Division Trademark team. Trademark outlasted The Original Peaches to win 101-94.

Fans in Rockford Illinois were excited to see the Peaches' young new center, 2nd overall pick King K. Rool. He finished his first FBA game with 15 points, but only shot 6-16 from the field.

The night fared better for Trademark's new rookie forward, Petey Piranha. Petey played with confidence and scored a team high 34 points in leading his team to victory.

The score went back and forth for most of the first half, but Trademark managed to pull away in the third quarter. The Peaches made a strong comeback, behind an incredible shooting night by backup guard Bomber, but fell just short. Bomber made 9 three pointers and scored 37 points, a game high.

The night's second game was played at the North Pole. Drew Division cellar-dweller Stalking Stuffers hosted The MTPs from the Alex Division. The Stalking Stuffers posted the worst record in the FBA last season, but managed a victory at home 100 to 97. Stalking Stuffers star forward Santa Claus secured his 7th career triple double in the victory, notching 44 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Newly acquired center Diablo scored 13 points for the Stuffers in his FBA debut.

Barbie led the MTPs in scoring with 30 points. King Hippo scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds off the bench, but couldn't slow Santa enough to secure a win.

The final game of the night featured Drew Division powerhouse Gimli's Beard visiting Sesame Street to take on The Street.

Reigning Rookie of the Year Big Bird scored 26 points for The Street, leading his team to a 101-97 victory. Rookie forward Tank scored 11 in his first game playing alongside Big Bird.

Gimli's Beard had a chance to win late, but a three pointer by guard Legolas bounced out. Legolas led all scorers with 29. The miss led to a game winning jumper by Kermit the Frog, who scored 22.

Notes: Onaga, the new rookie center for the MTP's, struggled in his first game. He scored 7 points and only made 2 of his 9 shot attempts. Talon, lauded for his talent but criticized for behavioral issues, scored 11 points off the bench for Gimli's Beard.

Teams Look to Add Depth and Talent Through the Draft

Every draft brings new faces and fresh talent to the league. This has always been and always will be a team effort," Beast said to Commissioner Marsh after receiving his fourth consecutive finals MVP award.

This year's league MVP, Mario, led the 1-ups with 48 points. The 1-ups trailed for the majority of the game, but always kept it close. They trailed 92-82 until Mario hit three straight baskets including back-to-back 3's but were never able to get over the hump.

"It's disappointing to get this far and not win," Mario said, "But Mama Mia, I am so proud of the improvement our team made this year. I'm already a-looking forward to next season."

A late foul in the post and Beast finished the game off from the line.

Robin Hood took a lot of pressure off Beast for the Dizneez. During the third quarter, he carried the load scoring 16 of their 25 points while the Beast sat most of the quarter to rest for the finish.

Game notes: Mario hit a post-Charming record eight 3-pointers. The two rookie starters, Incredible Hulk (1-ups), Darth Vader (Dizneez) combined for only 15 points. Barely half their regular season totals. The Dizneez finished with 25 assists compared to only 13 from the 1-ups.

Regular Season Awards Announced

With the regular season wrapped up, league officials have announced the final season awards for the 2008-2009 season.

Coach of the Year went to Legbreakers' coach Mickey Goldmill for leading his surprising team to the best record in the FBA.

1-Ups center Bowser received the award for Most Improved Player. Bowser's numbers saw a strong increase from last year; his points went from 7.4 to 14.4, and rebounding from 6.2 to 11.2.

Defensive Play of the Year was given to 1-Ups' shut down forward Donkey Kong. Mario had received the second amount of votes for the award for the last 3 years, but edged out rookie stand out Big Bird this year. Mario averaged a league best 38.6 points, 7.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game, and led his team to the second best record in the Drew Division.

The awards were split 3-3 between both divisions. The issue was in doubt late in the game until Great Tiger heaved a desperation shot from well behind the three point line. The shot not only won the game and sent the MTPs to the playoffs, but also eliminated the Toasties from post-season contention. Gimli's Beard had a chance at the number one over all seed, but also saw that disappear when Tiger's shot went through.

Although already securing the number one seed in the Drew Division, a win would have ensured Gimli's Beard home court advantage if they made it to the FBA Finals.

Gimli's Beard had trouble keeping MTPs guard Barbie from getting easy shots. She scored a game high 32 points, and set the stage for Great Tiger's late game heroics. Great Tiger added 26, including the aforementioned game winner.

Legolas scored a team high 22 for Gimli's Beard, who lost their first intra-conference game of the season. He had a chance to win the game with a mid range jumper, but the shot rimmed out.

Game Notes: Gimli's Beard center earned his 16th double-double of the season, scoring 17 points and grabbing 16 rebounds; this marked the 9th time in his career he had at least a double-double in every game of the season.

Shredded & Splintered wins; Drew Division Playoffs set

Shredded & Splintered needed one win to clinch a spot in the FBA playoffs. A game against the struggling Graboids might have seemed like a gimme, until recently.

"We watched the defending champs fall to an expansion team, and we knew that could have been us. The Graboids have some talented players and an excellent coach, so we knew we had to play our best," S & S coach Splinter told reporters. Earlier in the week, the Original Peaches, another espansion team, beat the Diznees 100-97.

In a back and forth game, S & S pulled out a victory 100-97. With the game knotted at 97, S & S guard Donatello scored a layup and was fouled by Graboids guard Captain America. The ensuing free throw secured the win. Donatello led all S & S scorers with 19.

"We are so excited right now," Donatello said after the game. "Its great knowing our season isn't over and we have a chance to play some more. Hopefully things come together for us."

Shredded & Splintered had struggled in inter-conference play. The preseason excitement stemming from the addition of guard Carl Carlson had fallen short of expectations, and the team had lost its first two games against the Alex Division.

With the win, S & S secured the 3 seed in the Drew Division playoffs. This is their third year in a row in the postseason. The other 3 playoff spots were decided as well. Gimli's Beard, with the top intra-conference record, has locked up the 1 seed, and will play the 4th seeded Villinz. 1-ups will meet the Shredded and Splintered as the two seed. With a win in their final inter-conference game, Gimli's Beard will tie Alex division team Legbreakers for the best regular season record in the FBA.

Game Notes: Shredded and Splintered reserve guard Sasquatch scored 17 and grabbed 11 rebounds, both career highs. Graboids guard Raphael played against his former team for the first time since leaving after the expansion draft; he scored 24. The loss, while putting them in last place in the FBA, gives the Graboids the best chance at landing the number one pick in the upcoming FBA draft.

4 Recent Games Include Memorable Win By Peaches

A four-pack of recent games was overshadowed by a surprise victory by the lowly Original Peaches over the 3-time defending champion Dizneez, 100-97. Other games saw the Capcoms outlast the Hoops 100-92, The Legbreakers won a close battle with the Villinz 101-99, and the X-Men beat the Stalking Stuffers 100-98.

Peaches guard Hobbes scored a career high 30, including 3 free-throws to win the game, as the struggling expansion team found its first inter-conference victory since joining the league this year.

Tied at 97, Peaches forward Frankenberry secured an offensive rebound and kicked it out to Hobbes, who attempted a potential game winning 3 point shot. The shot missed, but Hobbes was fouled by Dizneez guard Piston Honda. Hobbes calmly sunk the first two free throws, and showed impressive poise making the third after the Dizneez tried to ice him with a time out.

"I was fortunate to have the chance to win it for us," Hobbes said to reporters after the game. "The Diznees are an incredible team and we played our guts out to get to that point. I couldn't let the team down."

The Diznees, known for their ability to close out games, found themselves down 85-75 in the fourth quarter. Reserve guard Peter Pan led a run that tied the game at 90. The game went back and forth until Hobbes' free throws.

"We let ourselves get into a hole in the fourth quarter, but we managed to fight back and give ourselves a chance to win," Dizneez star center Beast said. "They hit some big shots and we floundered a bit there at the end." Beast scored 24 to go along with 12 rebounds.

Frankenberry, shut down all game by the defensive duo of Beast and Tyrone, found his touch late and helped finish off the game for the Peaches.

"Those shots were huge for us," Peaches coach Jimmy Dugan said of Frankenberry. "We had it won but almost let the [expletive] thing get away. 'Berry made sure that didn't happen." Frankenberry finished with 17 points and 9 rebounds.

With the season coming to a close, the Diznees lost positioning in the Alex division playoff race. The three-time defending champs may have a more difficult road to the finals this year.

Game Notes: Dizneez reserve center Waluigi saw his first action in almost 2 years, plaiyng 9 minutes and scoring 4 points. Original Peaches guard Bomber, known for his strong outside shooting, missed all 7 of his three point attempts. The game winning free throws marked the first time in FBA history that a Drew Division team made all 3 free throws when fouled on a 3 point shot.

Big Bird Trounces The Municipality

Basketball fans have come to expect a lot out of the player nicknamed "The Big Yella." On a night when his team was facing a must-win, Big Bird delivered with 40 points and 14 rebounds to lead The Street over The Municipality, 100-95.

"It was a huge win for us," said Big Bird, "We are fighting for the playoffs and games are getting tougher."

Big Bird battled all night with The Municaplity's star center, Trogdor. The two have met before. Both teams were FBAA expansion teams added at the beginning of this year.

"We have seen each other so many times, but its still such a fight whenever we meet," said Trogdor, following the loss, "I wish we had gotten a win, but Big Bird was too much for us." Trogdor finished the game with 34 points and 12 rebounds.

Big Bird scored 18 in the first half, despite sitting out nearly all the second quarter. Coach Telly for The Street opted to rest Big Bird for the crucial second half.

"I knew they would come for us. That team can put up points in a hurry, and we needed our best player in there for crunch time, " Telly said following the game, "Our supporting cast did a great job keeping things together."

The Municipality fell down 16-2 early, and never really recovered. Stinkoman, who scored 24, brought them within 3 late in the game, but it turned out to be too little too late. Trailing 87-82, Stinkoman scored 9 of his team's final 13 points, but they eventually fell short when Kermit the Frog hit the game winner from about ten feet out.

"They got on us really early, and we fell into a hole," said Coach Z, coach of The Municipality, "Its hard to bounce back from a slow start against such a tough team."

The win moves The Street into 5th place in the race for one of four playoff spots. They need 1 team from the trio of the Dizneez, MTPs, or the Toasties to lose in order to gain their first trip to the postseason. With the loss, The Municipality fell to the 5th spot in the Drew Division, with 4th place Hoops awaiting their final game. With an equal interconference record, The Municipality would have to beat Hoops in a play-in game should Hoops lose their final game versus the Alex division.

Game Notes: The second half was delayed 2 days due to fatigue and scheduling conflicts. Strong Bad had a career high 16 points off the bench for The Municipality. The game saw the most techincal fouls ever assessed for one infraction; an errant Arbitrary Wall Player pass hit and bent the FBA logo. The Municipality was charged 17 techincal fouls for the violation.

Master Chief, Hoops stave of X-men rally to win 101-97

Over the years, the Hoops have needed a player to be a finisher. Master Chief provided just that tonight, where his team fought off a late-game X-men rally to win 101-99.

Down 99-89, Ice Man and Spiderman led a run in which the X-men scored eight straight. After dodging a potential game winning three point bullet, Master Chief hit a fade-away 15 footer to seal the win for the Hoops. Chief led all scorers with 33

The game had been back and forth until halftime, when the Hoops opened up a eight point lead at the break. Mr. Doc and James Sullivan helped extend the lead to ten midway through the third quarter. The X-men responded with a small line-up and went into the fourth trailing by just 5.

Sullivan offered a strong low-post presence against the undersized front court of Sabretooth and Wolverine. He scored a season high 24 points, including 10 in the fourth period, and pulled down 15 rebounds.

The Hoops bench kept the X-men at bay and set the stage for Master Chief's game winner. Don Flamenco scored 6 points and dished out 5 assists, Predator scored 8 and Zap made 2 key three pointers.

Ice Man scored a team high 25 points, and Wolverine added 23. Spiderman also scored 23, a career high for the rookie.

Game Notes: This game marked only the third time the Drew Division had won back-to-back games against the Alex Division. Mr. DO! had 11 assists, his 5th straight game with ten or more. The game was played over the course of two nights, as an illness of the Hoops team suspended play in the third quarter.

FBA draft prospects showcase skills

Each year, the FBA hopefuls gather for a one-night exhibition to showcase their skills to the scouts on hand from each team.

The games are scored to 40 in two-20 point halves.

Showing they belong at the top of the draft were Lekgolo and King K. As cliche as it sounds.

If all you saw was the first 90 points, you could have easily made an assumption the MK Toasties had a wire to wire win against Gimli's Beard. However, after an ankle injury, GB overcame a double digit deficit late in the 4th quarter to win Sunday night 101-98.

Just like Isiah Thomas in Game 6 of the 1988 NBA Finals, Legolas led a charge on a bad ankle. However, unlike that game, Legolas and Gimli's Beard prevailed.

"It was like, we had so much time off, we couldn't focus," Beard's power forward Sauron said. "After the injury, Legolas just became an elf possessed."

Legolas finished the game with 29 points, including 10 of the last 12, and eight assists.

Liu Kang, for the Toasties was the only player on the floor who caught fire. He scored 34 points and was six of 10 3-pointers.

Game notes: In Moloch's first FBA game, he went 6 of 14 from the field for 12 points and added seven rebounds. Treebeard had only one block marking the first time in three seasons having less than two in a single game. Sauron scored 30 points, but on 14 of 29 from the field.

FBA update:

The League has been continuing although official interleague games have been on hold due to the entire Alex Division developing acute Patella Tendinitis and in their right knee and a herniated disc in their lower back. He also had 13 rebounds and shot 21 for 27 from the field.

The score was 50-46 at the end of a very uneventful first half of play, with the Capcoms on top.

After swapping buckets for the majority of the third quarter, the Capcoms created some distance between the S&S. Using efficiency in the half-court offense, they ended the quarter on a 7-0 spurt.

"At the start of the 2nd half, they were focusing on Bison, which left me alone on the block and I was able to take advantage," Tartarus said.

The Capcoms nearly let the win slip away however, after squandering an 11-point fourth quarter lead. Trailing 86-75, newly acquired Carl Carlson led a late charge to tie the game at 99, capped by two three pointers, one by Carlson, the other by veteran Leonardo.

On the ensuing possession for the Capcoms, Tartarus had what he thought was a game winning dunk before being blocked by S&S forward Rocksteady. "I thought it was over," Tartarus said. Fortune favored the Capcoms as the rejected shot dropped into the waiting hands of M. Bison. He wasted no time, driving the ball to the basket and finishing the game with a powerful slam dunk over Carlson. "The ball just landed in my hands, and I did what I do best," Bison said.

Carlson led the S&S team with 34 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. "It's always tough to lose, especially at home, but I think as we gel as team, the W's will start to come."

S&S Coach Splinter was disappointed with the team's performance from the free throw line, where they shot just 9 for 21. "In a game against a team as good as [the Capcoms], you have to give yourself a chance to win, and we didn't do that tonight."

The Capcoms improved to 2-0, while the S&S are still looking for their first inter-conference win at 0-2.

Game notes: Bugs Bunny scored five point in his first game in the FBA. There were two offensive fouls called in the game, doubling the total in league history. Hun added 18 points and 14 rebounds for the S&S, but shot 4 for 12 from the free throw line. This was the 16th straight sellout in the NYC Sewer.

Yoshi's Late Game Heroics Lift X-Men past Mega Man.

For a moment, it looked as if Proto Man was the hero. In the end, it was Yoshi and the X-Men who were celebrating.

With the Mega Men trailing 95-98, Proto Man hit just his second three-point shot of the game, tying the game for the first time since the first quarter. After a miss from Iceman, the Mega Men found themselves in a position to win the game after trailing by as much as 11 in the fourth quarter. Proto Man attempted a contested 18 foot jump shot which appeared to be on its way down.

Instead, the ball bounced out, and the X-Men set up to win the game themselves. Chewbacca had what appeared to be an easy scoop shot for the win, but Zangief's 4th block of the game turned the young rookie away. The ball then made its way into Yoshi's hands, and the speedy dinosaur drove past Guile and sunk a difficult fade-away to finish the game.

"It was a tough shot, but I thought I created enough space and the shot went down. This is a big win against a very good team and we are happy to have it," said Yoshi, whom the X-Men acquired from the 1ups last year.

Yoshi finished the game with 28 points, and Wolverine and Iceman chipped in with 24 points apiece. Proto Man countered with 26 points for the Mega Men, but shot only 2-11 from behind the arc. Proto Man has shot just 26 percent from downtown in the Mega Men's last 4 games, including an 0-7 intra-conference loss to Gimli's Beard.

Dr. Light, coach of the Mega Men, regretted leaving starting point guard Gemini Man on the bench as the game came down to the wire, instead opting to play the tough, but seldom used Guile. "We love Guile, but Gemini Man gives us a better scoring option, and I made a mistake in leaving him out," Dr. Light said of the situation.

This was the first inter-conference game for both teams.
